6th Edition Rollout

Over 340 participants attended the 6th Edition Rollout, a preconference offering that was held as part of the EMS Expo in Las Vegas.  Delegates from all over the world and from across Canada and the United States participated in this program delivered by the PHTLS Executive Council.

Attendants: National Coordinators, State/Provincial Coordinators, Affiliates and designates will now have the opportunity to bring the Rollout to their respective areas of responsibility.  Materials for localized updates will be available within the next couple of weeks, and will be provided upon application with the International PHTLS Office.  Please reference the Instructor Resource page, and Instructor and/or Coordinator listservs for instructions and resources.

PHTLS Division Meeting

The PHTLS Division Meeting took place on Wednesday, September 27th, and provided a valuable forum for both EC and Coordinators alike.  The EC presented the PHTLS 2006 Annual Report to attendees, presented Appreciation awards, and then split up into groups: Coordinators, Military, International and Website.

Scott B. Frame Memorial Lecture(click on thumbnail for larger image)

This years Scott B. Frame Memorial Lecture was delivered by James K. Styner,MD,FACS and entitled "The Birth of ATLS".  Dr. Styner developed the concept of ATLS as a result of the tragedies he experienced in a plane crash.

Introducing the lecture along with Dr. Jeffrey Salomone, was Dr. John Fildes, Chairperson of American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT).

If you are interested in Dr. Styner's story and were not able to attend the lecture, his story is printed at the beginning of the PHTLS 6th edition Textbook.
