The Delaware State Ambulance Association then held its annual awards and installation banquet at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Dover, Delaware.
After 4 days of continuing EMS education featuring special guest and national EMS speaker Michael Smith of Tacoma, Washington, as well as James Slattery of NAEMT and the National EMS Museum Foundation, Delaware’s annual EMS conference recently concluded on Wednesday evening, September 10th. The Delaware State Ambulance Association then held its annual awards and installation banquet at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Dover, Delaware.
The evening started with a special tribute for the unfortunate loss of Sussex County Paramedic Stephanie Callaway. On hand were the Callaway Family, Sussex County EMS Color Guard, fellow paramedics and Sussex County VFA Chaplain Charles Arnold who conducted the ceremony.
With over 200 in attendance, the banquet also included the presence of the honorable Lt. Governor John Carney and State Insurance Commissioner Matt Denn, who both help in the awards presentation. This year’s winners were broken into 3 categories as follows:
- Heroism & Courage to the “Delaware Air National Guard” 142nd AES.
- Heroic EMT of the Year to EMTs “Susan Willis” & “Charles Evans” from the Holloway Terrace Fire Company.
- EMS Lifetime Achievement to “James Cina” of the Bridgeville Fire Company.
In addition 9 Special Heroic recognition awards were presented as well to the following:
