Jan. 10: OSHA's Public Stakeholder Meeting on Preventing Workplace Violence in Healthcare and Social Assistance

Dec 17, 2016

WHAT: Public Stakeholder Meeting on Preventing Workplace Violence in Healthcare and Social Assistance
WHEN: Tuesday, January 10, 2017, 9am to 5pm Eastern Time
WHERE: Department of Labor Frances Perkins Building (Great Hall)
200 Constitution Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20210

OSHA will hold a public meeting for interested parties to comment on the need for a standard to prevent workplace violence in healthcare and social assistance. OSHA is publishing a Request for Information to solicit more detailed information on topics such as effective strategies for reducing incidents of violence in various healthcare and social assistance settings. This meeting is intended to supplement written comments by allowing workers to tell of their personal experiences with workplace violence as well as allowing for debate and discussion among stakeholders.

During the opening session, OSHA will provide an opportunity for individuals who wish to share their personal stories of experiences being harmed as the result of workplace violence (please indicate this on the registration below). Additional sessions will focus on both challenges and success stories from businesses, workers, their representatives, and experts. Participants who plan to be very active will be seated at a table; other participants can speak to their key concerns at an open microphone. Additional seating will be available for observers and press. Depending on demand, OSHA reserves the right to limit each organization to one seat at the table to assure all stakeholders have representation.

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow sufficient time to pass through building security.

Please note that printed copies of the Request for Information: Preventing Workplace Violence in Healthcare and Social Assistance will not be available at the meeting. The RFI will be published in the Federal Register and a link will be provided from OSHA's home page at: www.osha.gov.
