Connie has been involved with EMS since 1982, when she became a volunteer EMT in rural Kansas. She has been a Paramedic since 1989 and currently works as an EMS Captain for Johnson County Med-Act in Olathe, Kansas.

Meyer is past president of the Kansas EMS Association and president of the Heartland EMS Coalition.

Connie has been a part of NAEMT Leadership since 1993. She served as the Kansas representative to the NAEMT Board of Governors from 1993 to 2000, and was a member of the Executive Council and Board of Directors from 1997 to 2006. She also served as Secretary of the Paramedic Division and is Chair of the Newsletter Committee and Website Committee for NAEMT, overseeing the production of the NAEMT News and updates to the website.
