Jim Slattery, B.S., B.A., NREMT-I, began his career in the back of a Ford station wagon ambulance in 1960 and has been active in EMS ever since. He has more than 35 years of experience as a volunteer instructor for the National Ski Patrol and the American Red Cross. In 1974, he became a NREMT-A, and in 1982, a NREMT-I. He has been on a 911 ALS ambulance for the City of Taunton, Mass., for 22 years.

Slattery also has taught first responder, ski patrol, EMTs, police and fire personnel, and has served as an instructor trainer for the American Red Cross. He has served on the Massachusetts Governors Emergency Medical Care Advisory Board for 15 years and has been president of the Massachusetts Association of EMTs for 12 years.
