Rick has been involved with EMS since 1978, serving with volunteer, paid, and military services. He is currently a National Registered Paramedic, a Georgia Paramedic and a Georgia Level III EMS instructor.  He serves as the Chair for the Paramedic Technology program at Central Georgia Technical College located in Macon, Georgia.  Rick recently retired as the Command Functional Manager for the office of the Command Surgeon, Air Force Reserve Command, stationed at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, Georgia, where he provided oversight on operational and training issues for over 5000 enlisted medical personnel in nine Air Force Medical Specialties.  He has experience in EMS dispatch and Hazardous Materials.

Rick earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University and Associate Degree in Allied Health Sciences from the Community College of the Air Force.

Rick has been involved with EMS education at all levels since 1981. He has been a member of NAEMT for many years, having served on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Membership Committee.  He has served as Secretary for the Charles County, Maryland, Mobile Intensive Care Unit.

Rick was recognized as the 1998 recipient of the William Klingensmith EMS Administrator of the Year award for his work as the Air Force EMS Program Manager.  In 2000, he was awarded as the Air Force Medical Services Brigadier General Sarah P. Wells Outstanding Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.
