NAEMT News Writer’s Guidelines
The Publication
NAEMT News is a quarterly newsletter distributed to the members of the National Association of EMTs and sponsors. The publication has been recently redesigned, and we are accepting very few freelance articles at this time.

Audience
Professionals working in emergency medical services EMS , fire service, first response, hazardous materials response, rescue, disaster management, emergency preparedness, as well as those individuals who support them, such as EMS educators, government officials, suppliers and EMS medical directors.

Areas of Interest
A typical issue of NAEMT News includes association news, along with articles about legislative issues that affect EMS providers and information about education and training. The newsletter also includes a front-page feature story on some aspect of prehospital care or other issues relating to the association and its members.

Article Requirements
Articles for NAEMT News range in length from 250 words for short news items to 800 words for front-page feature stories.

Write your articles in a lively, active voice. Make headlines, subheads and leads interesting and engaging, but not cute or long-winded. Using examples or stories in a lead is acceptable, as long as they are brief and to-the-point.

Once accepted, articles will be edited and proofread, but we are relying on reporters and content experts to check and verify facts. Fabrication or consistent misinformation will be cause to terminate any relationship.

Submission Requirements
If you would like us to consider assigning you an article, please submit a query by e-mail to jarach1963@aol.com. Describe your idea, explain why NAEMT readers need to know this information at this time, and tell us why you are qualified to write the article. You may include clips of previously published material with your submission.

If we like your idea, we will respond with an assignment letter by e-mail, detailing the assignment requirements, pay rate and deadline. Submit manuscripts as attached files in Microsoft Word or in the body of an e-mail. Include your full name, e-mail address, street address, telephone number and Social Security Number. We do not accept queries by phone.

Photographs and other artwork enhance your words. At the time of your submission, let us know if artwork is available but do not submit it until we request it. If applicable, obtain permission before sending images.
