Happy New Year, everyone.
2006 is here and we have much to be excited about.
The past year was an important one for NAEMT. We celebrated our 30th anniversary and we accomplished much. I would like to thank each of you for the many contributions you made during 2005 to help NAEMT be successful. Your true dedication, commitment and determination despite all the tragedies of war and weather-related disasters helped make 2005 one of NAEMT’s strongest years ever.
We will carry this momentum into 2006 by continuing to fulfill our mission of serving EMS personnel through advocacy, educational programs and research. According to our strategic plan, we will do this by increasing our involvement in national EMS issues, projects and research on behalf of our members; increasing our membership; and expanding and developing our educational programs to the highest level possible.
We still have a lot of work to do. In the coming year, we will see many opportunities for NAEMT to speak on behalf of the EMS profession in a variety of areas, including representation in the federal government, funding for EMS, provider safety, worker shortages, provider education and the role of EMS in disaster response.
Our success will depend on our ability to work together and together, as a team, we will get it done!
Thanks for allowing me to serve as your president. I look forward to working with you in this new year. I would like to wish each of you and your families a very safe and happy 2006!
Ken Bouvier
President
