Why Serve on the NAEMT Board?

Serving on the NAEMT Board of Directors is a unique opportunity to:

What It Means to Be a Board Member

As a member of the NAEMT Board of Directors, you’ll:

  • Serve as a steward of the association’s mission, values, and resources.
  • Help shape NAEMT’s strategic direction and ensure effective planning and oversight of major initiatives.
  • Represent the broad membership in decision-making and maintain open lines of communication with NAEMT stakeholders.
  • Foster leadership that values the unique perspectives and experiences of all EMS professionals.

Open Positions for the 2026–2027 Term

We are seeking candidates to serve in the following Regional Director positions:

  • Southeast Coast Region Director
  • West Coast Region Director
  • Mid-Atlantic Region Director
  • East Central Region Director
  • Midwest Region Director

Terms begin in January 2026 and run through December 2027.

Board Member Responsibilities

Time Commitment
Average of 5–10 hours/month, including:

  • Attend Board meetings (in person and virtual) and participate in dialogue and timely decision-making between meetings.
  • Lead or support Board assignments, task forces, or special projects aligned with NAEMT’s goals.
  • Stay engaged with members and stakeholders by communicating decisions, listening to input, and representing NAEMT in the EMS community.

Fiduciary and Legal

  • Duty of Care – Participate actively and make informed decisions.
  • Duty of Loyalty – Place NAEMT’s interests above personal or professional interests.
  • Duty of Obedience – Uphold NAEMT’s mission and comply with governing documents.

Representation & Advocacy

  • Be an active ambassador for NAEMT locally and globally.
  • Support and participate in advocacy efforts that advance EMS.
