The Senate and House have passed the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act of 2013 (on February 28th and March 4threspectively) and the Bill was signed by President Obama earlier this week. The final changes strengthen the National Health Security Strategy (NHSS) to not only increase the surge capacity of emergency medical service systems and other providers, but also optimizes a coordinated and flexible approach to surge capacity.
