NAEMT and EMS Magazine are pleased to announce the establishment of the National EMS Awards of Excellence program to recognize outstanding achievement in the EMS profession. Other organizations participating include Advocates for EMS (AEMS), the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE), and the National EMS Managers Association (NEMSMA). The program will commence in 2010.

The following awards will be granted as part of this new program:
  • EMT of the Year
  • Paramedic of the Year

  • EMS Educator of the Year

  • EMS Executive of the Year

  • EMS Legislator of the Year

  • Paid EMS Service of the Year

  • Volunteer EMS Service of the Year

Award recipients will receive a monetary gift and free registration and travel to EMS EXPO, and will be recognized by all of the participating organizations.

Patrick Moore, President of NAEMT noted, “This new program allows us to collaborate with fellow EMS organizations to create one national awards program that focuses all of our attention on the excellent work undertaken by those in our profession. In honoring these outstanding award recipients, we hope to draw more attention to the EMS profession and all EMS practitioners who provide quality emergency patient care to their communities every day.”

"Recognizing excellence gives us the opportunity to showcase the individuals and organizations that rise above the job description and participate actively in the community,” says EMS Magazine Publisher Scott Cravens.

Nominations for the 2010 awards will be available online beginning in February 2010 on all of the participating organizations’ web sites.
