House and Senate FY2014 Budget Resolutions Released

Mar 15, 2013

On March 11, House Budget Committee Chair Paul Ryan (R-WI) released his Fiscal Year 2014 budget proposal. His budget would repeal the Affordable Care Act, establish premium support under Medicare and block grant Medicaid funding to states. Compared with current policy, the budget projects $129 billion in reduced net Medicare spending over 10 years and $756 billion in reduced spending on Medicaid and other health programs.

On March 13, Senate Budget Committee Chair Patty Murray (D-WA) introduced her budget for FY2014. Her budget would reduce Medicare spending by $275 billion and would replace Medicare provider cuts under sequestration with more specific different provider reductions. The House and Senate Budget Committees are currently considering their respective FY2014 budget proposals.
