The National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) has released a new report, Heroin and Prescription Drug Abuse, that provides "the results of a membership inquiry describing the scope of the prescription drug abuse and heroin problem along with actions State substance abuse agencies are taking to address these challenges." The report finds that, "State substance abuse agencies are implementing a number of initiatives and strategies related to opioid issues. On a related note, the CDC Public Health Law Program, in partnership with the CDC National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, has added a new item to its prescription drug menu library providing an inventory of various state laws aimed at inhibiting diversion of prescription drugs by establishing requirements for
tamper-resistant prescription forms.
