NAEMT has worked with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) to develop new tools and resources to enhance readiness among EMS practitioners in identifying and managing obstetric emergencies occurring during pregnancy, during delivery, and up to 12 months postpartum.
This is especially important because almost half of pregnancy-related deaths happen seven days to 12 months after pregnancy ends, according to a 2020 study. The new materials include model EMS guidelines for hemorrhage, elevated blood pressure, and eclampsia and an EMS informational sheet with statistics and highlights from literature. Learn more.
